Wanted to have an original series of my own to work on. A friend requested I do her sign for her (Taurus) and had such fun throughout the process I've now decided to do one of these for each of the zodiac signs.

I put a lot of thought into this piece. I wanted to incorporate the constellation into the painting and pictured the horns as arms joining at the hands and the face as a leg and so that's how I positioned her. I highlighted the constellation with little stars at the highlights on her arms and down her crossed leg. Obviously green was a big color Emerald, the relation stone for Taurus. a diamond on her golden horn gem to represent Taurus' love of materialism and self indulgence, I liked having the reflection of the diamond highlight her 3rd eye region to represent a Taurean's ability to see things how they are. Taurus is an earth sign so I kept the colors brown and green. Taureans can be lazy and very conservative at times, hence the sitting cross legged position (which actually worked out nicely with the constellation!).

I had a lot of fun designing her outfit. I knew I wanted it to be earthy, so I made it leather/suede material with some stitching. The pink roses represent that Taureans sometime have an affiliation towards the color pink and the rose for me can loosley be alluded to a bull through Spanish bull fighting. My friend's name was also Rosa and she was Spanish so in my mind it fits.
